Kiamesha Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements
Thompson, NY
Project Details
Client: Town of Thompson, NY
The Kiamesha WWTP was expanded in the early 1980’s to its current permitted capacity of 2,000,000 gallons per day, however, flows were well below capacity and portions of the treatment train were not utilized for many years. To service recent growth in the sewer district, MHE Engineering designed and assisted the Town with the bidding process and provided construction administration and observation services for renovations required to return the facility to its permitted treatment capacity.
Improvements included the replacement of two, 65 foot diameter secondary clarifiers, influent mechanical bar screen, grit removal system, effluent filter, media, weir, valve and baffle replacement, and repair of the sludge dewatering plate and frame press.
MHE Engineering administered multiple construction contracts for the project and assisted the Town’s Sewer Department in obtaining equipment and materials to perform some of the work with Town staff.
